MLD & SURGICAL RECOVERY
Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage Therapy (MLD) can shorten recovery time by reducing pain, swelling, inflammation and bruising. Increasing numbers of Physicians and Surgeons are becoming aware of this therapy and the benefits provided, and are recommending this type of care both before and after surgery. MLD therapy enhances the work of the skilled surgeon, speeds the recovery process for the individual and provides for better overall patient outcomes.
Discomfort and recovery time can be significantly reduced by receiving Manual Lymphatic Drainage performed by a well trained and skilled MLD Therapist. MLD techniques help the body return to normal functioning more quickly by moving “extra” fluids through the body and helping to soften fibrotic or hardened tissue by stimulating the lymphatic system. Sometimes surgery interrupts or even damages normal arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels which are used for moving fluids. Lymphatic Massage (MLD) assists the body in moving fluids through the normal primary pathways, and also in working with alternate pathways. Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage is the foundation of our Pre and Post Surgical treatments, and we combine this with other holistic integrative therapies.
During the initial consultation and session we will discuss your surgery, your compression garment instructions, medications, incisions, drains and surgical results. We will discuss the Surgeon or Surgical Center instructions and your next Physicians appointment. Please allow 90 minutes for this consultation and session. The time required for future sessions will depend on the type of surgical procedure and your body’s individual needs and response to the therapy.
Our therapy services are customized to meet the unique needs of each individual
